UZIO HR Enhancements — February 2026
This article covers HR improvements included in the February 2026 release.
Enhanced E-Verify Email Notifications
E-Verify email notifications are now dynamically routed to the right employer users based on their actions within the system, rather than always going to the Employer Admin.
With this enhancement, notifications are sent to:
- The employer user who created the E-Verify case
- The employer user who signed and submitted I-9 Section 2
If both actions are completed by the same user, the notification is sent to that individual. If one of the responsible users is unavailable, the notification defaults to the Employer Admin.
There are no changes to the email content — only the recipients are now determined dynamically.
I-9 Section 1 Completion Notifications
Notifications for I-9 Section 1 completion are now routed more precisely, ensuring the right employer user is notified when an employee completes their portion of the form.
Notifications will now be sent to:
- The employer user who assigned the I-9 to the employee
- For employees going through the onboarding process, the user who initiated or last updated the onboarding workflow
If the responsible user is unavailable, the notification will default to the Employer Admin.
Configurable Document Upload Requirement for I-9 Section 1
Employers can now require employees to upload supporting documents as part of completing I-9 Section 1, ensuring documentation is captured upfront and the overall I-9 process runs smoothly.
Previously, employees could submit Section 1 without uploading any documents, which could slow down the overall I-9 completion.
How to Configure
A new setting is available under Settings → Preferences:
"Do you want to mandate the upload documents field on I-9 Form Section 1?"
The default selection is Yes. Employers can change this to No at any time.
How It Works
- When set to Yes: The Upload Documents field in I-9 Section 1 is locked and set to Yes. Employees cannot modify this field and must upload the required document(s) before submitting Section 1. If they attempt to submit without uploading, an error message will prompt them to complete the upload.
- When set to No: The Upload Documents field remains editable. The default value is Yes, but employees may change it to No.
Important Notes
- This setting applies only to newly assigned I-9 forms that have not yet been initiated by the employee.
- Existing I-9 forms that are already completed or pending with the employer will not be impacted.
- If the setting is changed, the updated configuration will apply to future I-9 assignments only.
Seasonal Employment Type
Seasonal employees — those hired for peak periods like holidays or high-demand seasons and typically excluded from year-round benefits eligibility — can now be classified with a dedicated Seasonal employment type in UZIO.
Previously, there was no dedicated option for this workforce category, requiring clients to use 'Other' as a workaround.
What's Changing
When 'Seasonal' is selected as the Employment Type, the Employee Type field (which includes Permanent and Temporary) will be hidden, as it is not applicable to seasonal workers. All other employee profile fields remain unchanged.
