Manager Override Monitoring for Delivery Associate Time Entries

Modified on Mon, 14 Sep at 2:01 PM

Purpose

When administrators frequently rewrite Delivery Associates' punches, the timesheet stops reflecting what actually happened. For Amazon Delivery Service Partners (DSPs), a high edit rate is itself a compliance signal. Override monitoring makes the rate visible at the moment it matters: whenever an employer user opens Add Time Entry or Edit Time Entry for a Delivery Associate, UZIO shows how many punches in the current pay period have already been modified by admins.

DSP note: This control is switched on for Amazon Delivery Service Partner accounts and off elsewhere. It evaluates Delivery Associate (DA) time entries only. If you are not a DSP, you will not see this banner.

Who sees it: any employer user who can add or edit a Delivery Associate's time entry (typically the Employer Admin, and Reporting Managers within their team scope). Managers also see it in the UZIO Mobile App.

Note: This article covers the Add/Edit Time Entry banner, which is live. A related Manager Override Percentage tile exists on the employer home page for DSP accounts. It is a separate feature and is documented in Your Employer Home Page (Compliance Dashboard).

When the banner appears

UZIO evaluates the banner each time an employer user opens the Add or Edit Time Entry popup for a Delivery Associate. It appears only when all of the following are true:

  1. The employee is a Delivery Associate. Entries for other job categories never show the banner.
  2. Enough punches have been modified. UZIO compares the number of admin-modified punches in the pay period with the number of Delivery Associates in that pay period. The banner becomes eligible once modified punches exceed 15% of the DA headcount. With 40 DAs, that means 7 or more modified punches.
  3. The modification rate has reached a threshold. See the next section.

The banner is eligible from the first day of the pay period. There is no waiting period.

How the percentage is calculated

Override % = admin-modified punches for DAs in the pay period ÷ total punches for DAs in the pay period × 100.

Both counts cover the selected pay period only and include punches on deleted entries.

The following list of what counts as an admin modification comes from UZIO's help center and has not been re-verified line by line against the current release:

  • An employer user manually creates or deletes a time entry.
  • An employer user changes the clock-in time, clock-out time, day, or duration, or adds, removes, or edits breaks, or updates a missed-break premium (through edit, import, or Add Missing Breaks).
  • Several changes to the same entry count once.

Actions that do not count: accepting an employee's manually added or modified entry, adding a note, acknowledging a missed break, and checking kiosk photos.

What the banner says

UZIO sets the warning and alert levels for the banner. They are not an employer setting. In the current release the levels are 5% (warning) and 10% (alert).

Override %Display
Below 5%No banner
5% or moreYellow warning banner
10% or moreRed alert banner

The banner reads: "N out of M punches have been modified by admins during this pay period, resulting in X% of punches being manually edited."

In the UZIO Mobile App the manager sees: "Please note that N out of M punches have been modified by the employer. This is X% of the total punches."

The banner does not block the save. The entry is saved or updated exactly as you entered it.

What to do when you see it

  • Treat the banner as a prompt to move corrections back to the employees. Employees can fix their own entries when Allow employees to add, edit and delete their time entries? is on, and their changes route through manager approval when Require manager approval whenever an employee manually adds or edits a time entry is on. Both settings live on Time Tracking Settings > Time Clocks. See Controlling How Employees Clock In and Out.
  • Enter a clear reason on every manual change. The reason is stored with the change in the entry's history. See Time Entry Audit Trail.
  • If the rate is high because employees are forgetting to clock out, fix the cause: enable the missing clock-out flag and the long-running entry reminders on the Time Clocks tab.
