Purpose
A compensation statement shows an employee their whole compensation package, not just their salary. It sets out what you contribute to health insurance, life insurance, tax-savings accounts and retirement, and puts a value on paid time off and holidays. It is the answer to "what am I really paid?", and it is worth publishing once a year, after pay changes and benefits renewals have landed.
Who can do this: users whose role includes Employee Compensation Statement access under Company Access. The Employer Administrator has it by default, and a custom role can grant it. See Understanding Roles and Access.
Note: If Employee Compensation Statement does not appear under HR Tools, either your role does not include it or the module is not enabled for your company. Ask your Employer Administrator to check the role first. If the Employer Administrator cannot see it either, the module needs enabling; see Still stuck?.
Before you start
A statement is a snapshot of numbers that already exist elsewhere in UZIO, so get those right first.
- Current-year pay is in place for the employees you are including.
- Benefit enrolments are up to date, and the employer contribution amounts you intend to show are the current ones.
- Any figure you want in the statement that UZIO does not hold, for example a car allowance, is available either as an Additional Benefit or as a custom field. See Managing Employer Custom Fields.
Create and publish a statement
- Go to HR Tools > Employee Compensation Statement in the left navigation, then click Add Compensation Statement.
- Fill in the statement information and choose who the statement is for.
- Choose the benefits to include, and the employer and employee contribution amounts for each. An amount can be a dollar value or a percentage of salary, worked out by the computation criteria you select.
- Use Additional Benefits for anything not covered by the default list, such as an allowance or a bonus programme.
- If a figure has to differ per employee, it can come from a custom field. Configuring that is not self-service: ask your broker or your UZIO representative to set it up.
- Enter your preamble and disclaimer. The preamble is your covering message to the employee; the disclaimer is the standing wording you want at the foot of every statement.
- Select the employees to receive the statement and click Publish.

Note: Time it for after year-end compensation changes and benefits renewals have been entered. One statement carrying the new numbers is better than one statement and two corrections.
What the employee sees
Publishing makes the statement available to the employees you selected. How UZIO delivers it, whether an email goes out, and exactly where it appears on the employee portal are not documented here, because they have not been confirmed on the current release. Publish to yourself or to one test employee first and see what arrives before you publish to everyone.
Still stuck?
If Employee Compensation Statement is missing for your Employer Administrator, if a published statement is not reaching employees, or if a statement is showing a contribution figure you cannot trace, please reach out to us at support@uzio.com or call +1-571-601-1752. Send the statement name, the publish date, one employee example, and the figure you expected against the figure shown.
