Uzio Payroll Enhancements

Full-Service Garnishment Remittance

UZIO Payroll now supports full-service remittance for additional garnishment types. Employers can choose to have UZIO manage both calculation and remittance of these garnishments directly within the system. This enhancement allows employers to:

  • Centralize garnishment calculation and remittance in one platform
  • Reduce dependency on external remittance processes
  • Maintain consistent handling of garnishments across payroll runs

    How This Impacts Employers
Employers who choose to enable UZIO-managed remittance can streamline garnishment handling by reducing manual steps outside the payroll system. Employers who prefer to continue managing remittance independently may do so without any required changes.

If you are interested in enabling full-service garnishment remittance, please contact info@uzio.com or want to understand how it applies to your existing garnishments, please contact support@uzio.com or your UZIO representative for guidance.

    Garnishment Setup Enhancement

UZIO has enhanced the garnishment setup framework to support more flexible configurations, improved calculation accuracy, and stronger compliance alignment across garnishment types. These updates help payroll administrators configure garnishments more accurately based on court order requirements and applicable wage protection rules.

    New Garnishment Deduction Methods

    • Garnishment configuration now supports additional calculation methods based on garnishment type:
    • Percentage of Gross Pay for non-child-support and non-spousal-support garnishments
    • Percentage of Disposable Net Pay for child support and spousal support garnishments

This ensures garnishments are calculated using the correct wage base as required by applicable regulations.

New Mandatory Court Order Fields for Non-Child Support Garnishments
To better align with court order documentation requirements, the fields namely Issuing State, Case Number, Payee Name, Payee Address are now required when configuring non-child support garnishments at the employee level: These fields improve accuracy in recordkeeping, reporting, and downstream remittance handling.

    Advanced Garnishment Calculation Controls
System now supports additional calculation controls to handle more complex court order scenarios, such as creditor garnishments.

    Minimum Take-Home Pay

    • Allows administrators to define a protected take-home pay amount
    • If a garnishment would reduce pay below this threshold, the system automatically adjusts the withholding
    • If no excess earnings remain, no garnishment is withheld for that pay period

Percent of Wages Above Minimum Take-Home

    • Supports court orders that apply garnishments only to earnings above a protected amount
    • A percentage can be defined to apply only to wages exceeding the minimum take-home pay
    • If no percentage is specified, the full excess amount is considered eligible

    Additional Exemption Amount

    • Supports employee-level exemption amounts, such as dependent-based exemptions
    • The system reduces the calculated garnishment by the exemption amount to ensure compliance with court-approved limits

      Garnishment Order Document Management

Administrators can upload and manage court order documents directly within an employee’s garnishment record. Supported file formats include PDF, XLS, and image files. Uploaded documents are available for download from the employee deduction listing, helping centralize records and improve audit readiness.

      Uzio HRIS Enhancements

      In-App Form I-9 Workflow

UZIO now offers a fully native, in-app Form I-9 workflow that replaces the previous PDF-based process. Employees and employers can complete, sign, and manage Form I-9 entirely within the platform, securely capturing required information and supporting documents in one guided experience. This workflow is designed to improve accuracy, visibility, reporting needs, and audit readiness while simplifying the overall Form I-9 process.

If you have questions about Form I-9 completion or setup, please contact info@uzio.com.

      What’s New

      • A guided, in-platform I-9 workflow that captures required information in a structured sequence
      • Integrated document upload and storage for Employment Eligibility Verification documents
      • Clear status tracking to monitor completion and follow-ups

      Controlled Workflow

The employer initiates the Form I-9 by assigning it to the employee, either as part of onboarding or at a later stage. Once assigned, the workflow guides the employee through all required fields and presents acceptable document options to ensure accurate completion. The employee uploads Employment Eligibility Verification documents directly within the workflow, and these documents remain securely linked to the employee’s Form I-9 records. Please click on this How to fill Section 1 of I-9 Form article for more information.

After reviewing the entered information, the employee attests and signs the form electronically within the platform. Upon completion, the form is automatically routed to the employer, and the employer is notified that the employee’s portion has been completed.

The employer then reviews the submitted information and uploaded documents, completes the required verification details, attests, and signs Section 2 within UZIO. Once finalized, the completed Form I-9 is securely stored in the system and remains available for ongoing compliance and audit purposes. Each step includes validations and status indicators to help ensure timely and accurate completion. Please on this help article  Review and Fill Section 2 of I-9 Form for more details.

      Corrections and Reassignment

When corrections are required, employers can reassign the Form I-9 to the employee directly within the platform. Any updates follow standard Form I-9 correction guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance. All correction and reassignment actions are fully traceable, preserving a complete audit history for review and record-keeping purposes.

Note - Previously completed Form I-9 records remain unchanged and are retained as originally submitted. Historical forms are preserved to meet record retention and audit requirements.

      Relationship to E-Verify

      • The in-app Form I-9 workflow captures all information required for Employment Eligibility Verification and works seamlessly with UZIO’s E-Verify integration.
      • For details on E-Verify case creation, refer to the following section Native E-Verify Integration.

      Native E-Verify Integration

UZIO now provides a native integration with E-Verify, enabling employers to electronically verify employee work authorization directly within the platform. E-Verify is a federal system operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to confirm an employee’s eligibility to work in the United States.

With this integration, employers can create, submit, and manage E-Verify cases end to end using E-Verify Web Services without leaving UZIO. The integration works seamlessly with the in-app Form I-9 workflow, supporting compliant case creation, real time status tracking, and complete case visibility in alignment with USCIS and DHS requirements.

If you are interested in enabling UZIO’s native E-Verify integration for your company, please contact info@uzio.com for details on the signup process for this service.

        What’s New

        Native E-Verify Case Management
Employers can now manage E-Verify cases directly within UZIO.

        • Create E-Verify cases using information captured from Form I-9
        • Submit cases electronically to E-Verify
        • Track case progress without switching systems

        Real-Time Case Status Tracking
UZIO displays clear, user-friendly statuses to reflect the current state of each E-Verify case. Supported case statuses include

        • Draft – Case is created but not yet submitted
        • Employee Authorized – Employee is authorized to work
        • Photo Match – Photo verification is required
        • Tentative Non-Confirmation (TNC) – Information mismatch requiring employee action
        • Final Non-Confirmation (FNC) – Employee is not authorized to work
        • Need More Time – Case requires additional review by E-Verify

Statuses are updated as E-Verify processes the case.

        Creating an E-Verify Case

        • Employers can initiate an E-Verify case from the employee’s I-9 record
        • Required information is pre-filled based on the completed Form I-9

        Managing E-Verify Cases
        Employers can:

        • Monitor case status directly in UZIO
        • View required actions when a case enters specific statuses (such as TNC)
        • Track resolution of cases through completion

        Uzio Time Module Enhancements

        Termination Reason Flexibility

UZIO has enhanced how termination reasons are captured to improve compatibility with external HR and payroll systems and to support more flexible data imports. In addition to standardized termination reasons, employers can now select an “Other” option and optionally provide free-text details when a predefined reason does not apply.

This enhancement helps ensure termination data can be accurately captured and transferred from external systems without errors, while still maintaining reporting consistency and audit readiness within UZIO.

        Improved Time Off Accuracy

UZIO now ensures that PTO balances remain within policy-defined limits when an approved leave is cancelled. Previously, cancelled leave was fully re-credited even when it caused the PTO balance to exceed the allowed maximum. With this update, balances are capped according to policy limits, ensuring accurate and consistent PTO tracking without manual corrections.

Schedule View Update: Sunday–Saturday Week Format

The Schedule date picker and weekly schedule view now follow a Sunday through Saturday week format. This update creates a consistent and intuitive weekly experience across scheduling, reporting, and schedule downloads.

          UZIO Mobile Enhancements

          Mobile Experience Expansion

UZIO Mobile continues to evolve as a robust alternative to the web experience, enabling employees to complete more payroll, time, and HR tasks directly from their mobile device.

          • Mobile Profile Picture Update - Employees can now add, change, or remove their profile picture directly from the mobile app using the device camera or gallery. Images can be cropped and rotated before saving and sync across the platform.
          • Biometric Login Renamed to App Lock - Biometric Login has been renamed to App Lock and now clearly reflects that the app uses the device’s configured unlock method when opening or returning to the foreground.
          • Mobile Inbox - A new Inbox consolidates employee notifications into:
            • Notifications for informational updates
            • Your Action Needed for tasks requiring employee follow up
          • Upcoming My Schedule Card - When Scheduling is enabled, the Time Tracking screen displays a three day view of upcoming shifts with a link to the full schedule.

          UZIO Miscellaneous Enhancements

          • Renamed “Class” to “Benefits Class” across the platform. (Benefit enrollment behavior remains unchanged)
          • UZIO now supports uploads of .HEIC images across the platform. This improves compatibility with modern devices that capture photos in HEIC format and reduces the need for manual conversion before uploading.
          • Added “Seasonal” as an employment type
