Purpose
Request time off, track where the request has got to, cancel one you no longer need, and read your time-off history. Everything here works the same way in the employee portal and in the UZIO mobile app.
Who can do this: Any employee assigned at least one time-off policy. If your home page has no Time Off section, your company either does not use UZIO Time Off or has not assigned you a policy yet. Ask your HR team.
Request time off
- From the home page Time Off card, or the My Info > Time Off tab, click Request Time Off. If you have more than one policy, each balance is shown before you choose.
- Fill in the request:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Time Off Type | Your company's policies: vacation, sick, and so on |
| From / To | Date range (MM/DD/YYYY with calendar pickers). One day or several, full or partial days |
| Amount (Total Available) / Total Requested Amount | Appears once you have chosen a type and dates |
| Comment(s) | Optional, and visible to your approver |
- Click Send for Approval. Your reporting manager, or a company admin if you have no manager, is notified by email. You are emailed again when the request is approved or denied.

What happens after approval
Approved time off does three things. It moves out of your Available balance into Scheduled. It appears on your schedule and on your timesheet for those days, so nobody expects you to clock in. And where your policy pays the time, it reaches payroll as a paid time-off earning line on the stub covering those dates. See Understanding Your Pay Stub.
Cancel a request
Open My Info > Time Off, find the request under Upcoming Time Off, and click Cancel. Your approver is notified and your balance is adjusted back automatically. Both pending and already-approved requests can be cancelled, and each shows a confirmation first:
- Cancelling an approved request: "You are about to cancel your approved time off(s). If you proceed with this action, all of the balances deducted against this leave request will be re-added to your account. Are you sure you want to proceed?"
- Cancelling a pending request: "You are about to cancel your time off request. If you go ahead, we will not deduct the balance requested for the time off. Are you sure you want to proceed?"
Note: There is no way to edit a submitted request. To change dates or hours, cancel it and submit a new one.
Note: Once an approved request's start date has passed, you can no longer change or cancel it yourself. You will see "Past-dated time-off requests cannot be changed or cancelled. Please contact your employer if you need any updates." Ask your HR team to correct it.
Check your balance and history
The Time Off tile on the home page, and the My Info > Time Off tab, show every policy assigned to you with its accrued balance, plus two sections: Upcoming Time Off (planned requests with their status) and Time Off History (everything up to today).
Statuses you will see:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Requested | Awaiting approval |
| Approved / Denied | Decided by your approver |
| Cancelled | Withdrawn by you, or on your behalf |
| Accrued | Balance added on your policy's accrual schedule |
| Carry Over Loss | Time forfeited at policy reset. 12 days left against a 10-day carryover cap means 2 days lost |
| Adjustment | A manual balance change made by your employer |
Tip: Balances accrue on a schedule rather than in real time. If your accrual date has only just passed, give the system its processing window before assuming the number is wrong. See Understanding Your PTO Balance and Accruals.
Check the holiday calendar
From the Time Off tile or tab, click Holiday Calendar to see the company holidays that apply to you. Recognized holidays are not deducted from your time-off requests.
If you leave the company
When your employer records your termination, UZIO cancels your booked time off automatically:
- Every approved request dated after your last day is cancelled.
- Every pending request is cancelled, whatever its dates.
Time off you already took before your last day is unaffected. Whether your remaining balance is paid out in cash depends on your company's policy settings and on the law in your state, so ask your HR team what will happen to yours before your last day. If it is paid out, it appears as a PTO Balance Payout earning line on a pay stub.
Common problems
Why won't my request submit?
The message names the rule you hit:
- "You cannot request leaves more than your available balance." The request exceeds your Available balance, which is Current minus already-Scheduled time. Cancel a future request you no longer need, ask for fewer days, or wait to accrue more.
- "Time off request dates should be on or after MM/DD/YYYY as per the policy setup." Your policy has a usage waiting period, which is common for new hires, or it starts on that date. You cannot request time off before the date shown.
- "This policy requires leave in 1-hour increments. Please enter a value that is a multiple of 1..." Your policy only accepts hours in fixed steps. Re-enter the hours as a multiple of the increment named in the message.
Can I cancel a request my manager already approved?
Yes. Cancel works on approved requests, your balance is re-added automatically and your approver is notified. The single exception is a request whose time off has already started. At that point cancellation is closed to you, so contact your HR team.
Why did my available balance drop right after approval?
Approved future time moves into Scheduled immediately, which lowers Available even though you have not taken the time yet. It is reserved, not lost. Cancelling the request returns it.
I requested the wrong dates
Cancel the request and submit a new one. There is no edit. Your manager sees the cancellation and the new request as a pair, which is normal.
On the mobile app
Time off works the same way in the UZIO mobile app. Sign in with the same username and password you use for the web portal. You can view your Holiday Calendar, Time Off History and Available Time Off Balance, request time off, and cancel a request. Cancelling in the app follows the identical rules, including the restriction on an approved request that has already started.
Note: If you are also a Reporting Manager, the app lets you review your direct reports' pending and completed requests and approve or deny them, and shows who else is out that day. See Reviewing Team Time Off Requests.
