FAQ: Time Off Requests

Purpose

Quick answers to the questions employees ask most about time off. For the full walkthrough, see Requesting and Managing Your Time Off.

Can I edit a request after submitting it? No. There is no edit. Cancel it and submit a new one, from My Info > Time Off > Cancel on the request. Your approver is notified of the cancellation and your balance adjusts back automatically.

Can I cancel a request that's already approved? Yes. You will see a confirmation saying the deducted balance "will be re-added to your account", and your approver is notified. The one exception is a request whose time off has already started: "Past-dated time-off requests cannot be changed or cancelled. Please contact your employer if you need any updates." Ask your HR team.

Can I request or cancel time off from the mobile app? Yes. Requesting, cancelling, your balances, your history and the holiday calendar are all in the UZIO mobile app, under the same rules as the web portal, including the restriction on an approved request that has already started. See Using the UZIO Mobile App.

Can I request a partial day? Only if the policy tracks time in hours. Then you enter hourly amounts, so a half day on an 8-hour schedule is 4 hours. Policies tracked in days record whole days. The granularity is set on the policy rather than per request, so ask your HR team if you need hourly entry.

Why does it reject my hours as "not a multiple"? Some hours-based policies require requests in fixed steps, often whole hours. If you see "This policy requires leave in 1-hour increments...", re-enter the hours as a multiple of the increment named in the message.

Who approves my request? Your reporting manager. If you do not have one, it routes to an employer admin. They are notified by email the moment you submit, with approve and deny actions in the message.

How do I know the decision? You get an email when it is approved or denied, and the status updates under Upcoming Time Off from Requested to Approved or Denied.

My request was denied. Now what? Talk to your approver, then submit a new request for different dates. Nothing was deducted from your balance for a denied request.

Where does approved time off show up afterwards? On your schedule and your timesheet for those days, so nobody expects you to clock in, and where the policy pays the time, as a paid time-off earning line on the pay stub covering those dates.

Why did my available balance drop as soon as I was approved? Approved future time off moves into Scheduled, which reduces Available immediately. Your Current Balance does not change until the time is actually taken. See Understanding Your PTO Balance and Accruals.

Do holidays count against my request? No. Recognized company holidays are not deducted from time-off requests.

Can my manager see my comments? Yes. The Comment(s) field on the request is visible to your approver and travels with the request.

What happens to my time off if I leave? Approved time off dated after your last day is cancelled, and so is anything still pending. Whether your remaining balance is paid out in cash depends on your company's policy and on your state's law, so ask your HR team before your last day.

What do the history statuses mean? Requested, Approved, Denied and Cancelled apply to requests. Accrued marks a scheduled balance addition, Carry Over Loss marks time forfeited at a policy reset, and Adjustment marks a manual change made by your employer.
