Using the File Center

Purpose

The File Center is where UZIO keeps the files that move in and out of your account in bulk. When you upload a spreadsheet to import employees, time entries or shifts, the upload is listed here with its processing result. When a large standard report finishes in the background, the file is listed here for download. This article explains what you will find in the File Center, how to read an upload error file, and where to look instead when a file is not here.

Who can do this: any employer-portal user with access to the workflows that produce the files. The File Center has no permission of its own.

What lands here, and what does not

You did thisLook in
Uploaded a bulk import file (employee census, time entries, shift schedule, deductions)File Center > Upload Request
Ran a standard report that processes in the backgroundFile Center > Download Request (also reachable from View Reports on the Reports page)
Received a "[Report name] is downloaded" email for a scheduled standard reportFile Center > Download Request
Ran or scheduled a Custom Report Builder templateNot here. Open Reports > Custom Report Builder > Generated Reports. See Running a Report and Downloading Results
Uploaded a document for one employeeNot here. It is on the employee's profile under Documents

Find a file

  1. Click File Center in the global menu.
  2. Choose a tab. Upload Request lists files you uploaded and their processing status. Download Request lists files generated for you.
  3. To narrow the list, click the Filter icon, choose a File Type, and click Update Results. Use the Search icon to find a file by name.

Read an upload error file

Bulk imports are validated after you submit them, not while you upload. A green confirmation only means the file was received. Always open Upload Request afterwards and check the row's status.

Each row's Actions menu offers two downloads:

  • Download File returns the file exactly as you uploaded it.
  • Download Error File returns the same file with every failing cell highlighted in red, together with the reason it failed.

Fix the highlighted values in your original file and upload it again. Rows that passed the first time are safe to leave out of the second upload for most imports; check the import's own article for its rules, for example Time Tracking Reports for time entries or Scheduling Grid, Views, and Budgets for shifts.

Common problems

My upload shows a success message but the data is not in UZIO

The message confirms receipt, not a clean import. Open Upload Request, find the file and download the error file. The rows that failed are listed with the reason.

My custom report is not in the Download Request tab

Custom Report Builder keeps its own history. Go to Reports > Custom Report Builder > Generated Reports. Download links there expire 30 minutes after the run completes, so re-run the template if the link has lapsed.

The file I need is gone

We have not confirmed how long the File Center keeps files. If a file you need has disappeared, re-run the report or re-upload the import. Do not rely on the File Center as an archive; download and store anything you need for your records.

Still stuck?

If an error file does not explain why a row failed, or a background report never appears in the Download Request tab, please reach out to us at support@uzio.com or call +1-571-601-1752. Send the file name, the tab it should appear on, the time you submitted it, and a screenshot of the row's status. Do not attach files that contain employee identity documents.
