Purpose
You have just been given a UZIO employer account. This article shows what UZIO covers, the order in which to set things up, and where each task lives. Every step links to its detailed guide.
Who needs this: new Employer Administrators and custom-role admins in their first week.
What UZIO is
UZIO is an all-in-one HR platform. Depending on what your company has enabled, your account covers:
| Area | What you manage there |
|---|---|
| Payroll | Company and employee pay setup, running payroll, taxes, contractors |
| Time Tracking | Time clocks (mobile, web, kiosk), overtime and break rules, timesheets |
| Time Off | PTO policies, holiday calendars, balances, approvals |
| Scheduling | Shift schedules, budgets, shift offers |
| Benefits | Reviewing broker-proposed plans, monitoring open enrollment and life events. Plan and rate setup is done by your broker |
| HR | Hiring and onboarding (offer letters, I-9 and E-Verify), documents, tasks, compliance |
Where you and your employees work
| Surface | Who uses it | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Employer Portal (web) | Employer Administrator, custom-role admins, Reporting Managers | All administration: payroll, users, settings, approvals, reports |
| Employee Portal (web) | Every employee, including admins wearing their employee hat | Pay stubs, time off, benefits, tax and banking details |
| UZIO Mobile App | Employees; Reporting Managers for team approvals | Clock in and out, time off, pay stubs, schedules, team timesheet and time-off approvals |
| UZIO Kiosk | Employees at shared worksites | Clock in and out on a shared device with a PIN or face scan |
Employer-administration tasks are web-only. One login works everywhere: see Registering and Logging In.
First week, in order
- Register and secure your account. Register from your invitation email, then set up 2-Step Verification straight away. Your account will hold Social Security numbers and bank data. Read the "before you lose your phone" advice in that article; a lost 2FA device is the one login problem you cannot fix yourself.
- Learn the portal layout. Navigating the Employer Portal covers the left navigation, the top bar, and the Home dashboard.
- Understand who can do what. Read Understanding Roles and Access. There is exactly one Employer Administrator, and everything else is granted through roles.
- Delegate. Add your payroll person, HR person, and any external accountant in Manage Users. UZIO ships with ready-made Payroll Admins, HR Admins, and Benefit Admins roles. Never share your own login.
- Confirm company information. Verify company details and addresses and work locations. Work locations drive state tax setup, geofences, and holiday calendars downstream.
- Set up the modules you will use. Each has its own guided path:
- Payroll: Payroll Setup Overview (12 steps, including bank account, taxes, earnings, and deductions)
- Time Tracking: Setup and Configuration
- Time Off: Adding and Managing Time Off Policies
- Add employees. Use Employees > Add Employee for people already working for you. Use the Prospective Employees tab for pre-hires you will onboard with offer letters and I-9s; see the Hiring and Onboarding Overview. Send registration links so employees can self-serve.
Tip: Once you are running, the Home dashboard is your daily radar: live clocked-in counts, the Your Action Needed queue, compliance alerts, and payroll risks. See Navigating the Employer Portal.
Where to get help

- Benefits claims questions go to your broker or carrier. UZIO does not store claims.
