Purpose
You become a Reporting Manager in UZIO when other employees are set up to report to you. The role lets you act on your team's requests: time off, timesheets, and, depending on the access your company grants, schedules and expenses. This article explains how the role works, where each approval lives on the web and in the UZIO Mobile App, and what to expect when requests arrive.
Who this is for: any employee whom UZIO has assigned the Reporting Managers role because they have direct reports.
How you get the role
The role is automatic. When your company records you as an employee's reporting manager, UZIO adds you to the Reporting Managers role and gives you access to the Employer Portal. You do not request it and your admin does not configure it for you.
The first time this happens, you receive an email with the subject "You have been added as a Reporting Manager on UZIO." It explains that your company has assigned you direct reports and that you can manage your team through the UZIO Employer Portal, depending on the level of access your employer has granted.
- If you already have a UZIO account, the same username and password work for the Employer Portal.
- If you have not registered yet, the email asks you to register your UZIO account first.
If you stop having direct reports, the role and the Employer Portal access are removed automatically.
Your two portals
You use two sides of UZIO with one login.
| Portal | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Employee Portal | Your own work: pay stubs, your time off, your benefits, your timesheet. |
| Employer Portal | Your team: their time off requests, timesheets, and, if granted, schedules and expenses. |
You switch between the two from your profile menu. The exact label is set by your company's portal, so if you cannot find the switch, ask your HR administrator.
Note: The UZIO Mobile App combines both. Your own time and pay live under the main tabs. Your team lives under More > Manage Team, which has Timesheet and Time Off.
Whose records you can see
The Reporting Managers role is scoped to your direct reports: employees whose current reporting manager is you. It does not extend to other people at your location or in your department.
If you can see more people or more information on the web than your direct reports, that comes from an additional role your admin gave you, not from the manager role. In the mobile app, Manage Team always shows direct reports only.
Your admin sets this with a single choice on the role, which is worth knowing when you are trying to explain what you can see:
| Setting on your role | Who you can see |
|---|---|
| All Employees | Everyone in the company |
| Direct Reports | The people who report to you — the manager default |
| Direct & Indirect Reports | Your reports and everyone beneath them |
| Specific Employees | Only the people named on your role |
| Employees Based on Criteria | Everyone matching a rule, such as a work location or department |
If someone else at your level sees a different set of people, it is almost always this setting rather than a fault.
What you can do by default
For your direct reports, the standard role lets you:
- see your team list,
- approve or deny their time off requests, and
- review, correct, and approve their timesheets.
Corrections to a team member's time entries depend on a company setting. If the option to add or edit an entry is missing, your company has not enabled it for managers.
Your company can widen the role. Admins can grant Reporting Managers view or full access to team members' personal, job, and contact details, payroll and compensation, benefits, documents, tasks, time off, timesheets, schedules, and expenses. Any change applies to every Reporting Manager in the company. Sensitive fields such as salary and Social Security number can be masked for the role even when the section itself is visible. Masking is set per field and has three levels, and it is applied separately for what you see on screen and what you get in a downloaded report — so you may read a figure in the portal and still receive it masked in a report. A partially masked pay figure hides its leading digits and keeps the rest, so a salary appears as $••,000 and an hourly rate as $•8.50/hr. If you need a capability you do not have, for example schedule management, ask your HR administrator to review the role in Manage Users.
Where your approvals live
| Approval | Web | UZIO Mobile App |
|---|---|---|
| Time off requests | My Team > Time Off (Pending / Completed). You can also act from the Approve and Deny buttons in the request email. | More > Manage Team > Time Off |
| Timesheets | The team timesheet page in the Employer Portal, one pay period at a time. | More > Manage Team > Timesheet |
| Shift swap and offer requests (only with schedule access) | The Need Approval icon on the scheduler. | Not available. Employees send shift requests from the app, but managers approve them on the web. |
| Open-shift claims (only with schedule access) | The Claims icon on the published open shift. Claims are not in the Need Approval dropdown. | Not available. |
| Expenses (only with expense access) | Expenses, Pending tab. | Not available. |
Details for each are in the linked articles at the end of this page.
Notifications you will receive
- An email for each time off request routed to you, with Approve and Deny buttons. The employee's comment is included.
- An email when a team member cancels a time off request, including an approved one.
- Time tracking alerts your company has switched on: a team member still clocked in after a set number of hours, late or early clock-ins and clock-outs against a published shift, and no-shows. These arrive by email, SMS, or push depending on your company's settings.
- If your company routes employee time entry edits through manager approval, those edits appear as pending items on the team member's timesheet.
- If you approve expenses, a daily summary email of yesterday's AI-approved and still-pending expenses. There is no per-expense email.
UZIO does not send reminders about requests you have not acted on.
When you are away
There is no delegate or backup approver setting in UZIO. Requests routed to you wait until someone acts. Your company's Employer Admin, and any other user whose access covers your team members, can approve or deny in your place. Before a planned absence, tell your HR administrator so they can cover your team's requests, and remind your team that payroll deadlines still apply to timesheet approvals.
DSP note: If you work for an Amazon Delivery Service Partner, edits you make to a Delivery Associate's punches count toward the company's Manager Override rate, which is monitored for compliance. Prefer having the employee correct their own entry, and always enter a reason when you change one. See Manager Override Monitoring.
Common problems
I have direct reports but no Employer Portal access
The role is assigned when UZIO processes the reporting change. Check that your team members' records list you as their reporting manager, and that you have registered your UZIO account. If both are true and you still cannot switch portals, ask your HR administrator to check the Reporting Managers role in Manage Users.
I cannot see a team member's balances, pay, or documents
Those sections are only visible if your company has added them to the Reporting Managers role. The default role covers time off approval and timesheets. Ask your HR administrator.
Manage Team is missing in the mobile app
The app only shows Manage Team to users who currently have direct reports. If you were made a manager today, log out and back in. If it is still missing, confirm with your HR administrator that the reporting lines are saved.
