This page has moved. The full walkthrough now lives in the employee library: Completing Section 1 of Form I-9.
Why this page is a pointer
Section 1 is the employee's half of Form I-9. The employee enters their own personal details, declares their citizenship or immigration status, and signs to attest the information is true. You cannot fill it in for them, and you cannot edit what they entered. Because the whole article speaks to the employee, it now sits in the employee library where the employee reads it. This page stays here so existing links keep working, and so that you can find it from the I-9 module.
If you are the employer: your half is Reviewing and Verifying Form I-9 (Section 2), which you complete once the employee's I-9 status reaches Pending with Employer.
If an employee asks you how to complete their part: send them Completing Section 1 of Form I-9. It covers which citizenship status to pick, what to type for an A-Number, which documents to present, and what to do after signing.
